Some of you may know that I have recently been asked to review a few Taiwanese cosmetics. Among some of the other masks that I had received is this lovely mask by a brand called CY Labs. I wasn’t familiar with the brand up until now so my views on the product is completely objective, and it’s my first try of any Taiwanese cosmetics.
I think something that doesn’t get enough attention in the cosmetic and skincare business is when a company tries its best to provide us with quality without exploitation, short cuts and abuse. CY Labs is proud about this: “100 % made by own ISO/GMP certified cosmetic factory. No animal testing. Safety and beauty care for your skin.”
NO ANIMAL TESTING will always land a brand in my good books.
The first thing that I noticed about this mask is that the packet is fairly smaller than the Korean sheet masks that I have tried, but I was pleasantly surprised that this mask came with separator, a thin sheet of plastic on mask that makes it possible to fold it small enough to fit the packet without sticking together and creating a hot mess.
Here is what it looks like:
This is also the shape and size of the actual mask, which is probably hard to really get an idea of until you see it applied. Before I show you the picture of it applied to my face, I want to show you the instructions and the write up of the ingredients.
Their claims:”All new high-level skin care series, the utilization of skin basic-level activation technology from our lab, can effectively nourish from the surface skin to the deeper skin.”
I applied this mask by placing it on my skin and removing the gauze like plastic from the mask and then smoothing it out for maximum contact and no air bubbles. This is what it looks like:
As you can see it is an extremely thin mask, which is why (I believe) they bothered with putting a layer of gauze on it. It is also very slimy, which to me is makes for a great mask, lots of moisture and desired results. “Slimy, yet satisfying”
My skin felt extremely plumped up and moisturized after the 20 minutes, without feeling greasy, and the overall tone of skin was firmer and clearer. I really feel like this is not the average w1000 mask from the teenaged marketed brands here in Korea. It’s definitely more pricy and better quality than those. I feel like the fact that it’s name has the word Lab in it, makes it seem more researched and the brand provides the best they can.
Would I purchase these? Yes, I definitely will do so in the future. I’ll try and get some variations to try out for you. As a disclaimer: I have combination to oily skin and I struggle with black heads on the nose, but this did not affect my skin in a negative way at all. I truly am impressed.
There you go ladies and jellyspoons. Have a lovely week!
