It’s springtime and I’ve decided to take one of my off days of this 5 day weekend to spring clean our apartment. In the process I’ve come across a whole box of empties that I’ve been allowing to accumulate with all the best intentions of blogging on them for you, but it’s reached a level of crazy and I want to just get them out of my house now so here I am 🙂 Don’t be confused as to why I have so many empty moisturizers since some of them come from 2015.
IOPE Complete Anti-Aging Cream
I got this as a gift when I paid for club membership at a store called Aritaum here in Korea. They stock a ton of international brands and high end Korean brands and I was excited to try this product, since IOPE is an extremely popular and raved about brand in Korean beauty circles.
The product comes in a classy container with the smallest amount of indigo iridescence in the plastic. It right off the bat game me the impression of dewy moisture, which might be off putting if you’ve got oily skin, but I used this product in the dry Korean winter and it did not create too much moisture or an excess of sebum, and I do struggle with oily skin in the summer. With that being said, I’d not recommend this product for usage in the summer, since even the product feels light, it is quite oily and could potentially break you out. I’d recommend it for the winter and if you have dryer skin.
My thoughts: I’d repurchase and I’d give it 5 stars. It really does live up to the IOPE name.
INNISFREE Green Tea Balancing Cream:
I don’t know if I’ve made this obvious on my blog, but I am a major fan of Innisfree and I’ve been using their products almost exclusively for my skincare routine. The problem is that I’m very curious and so I’m constantly trying new product lines and off course, not all of them are for my skin type. The Green Tea line however is very extensive and has different segments for different skin types. I’ve been using the balancing line for a while now because I know the moisture line will be too oily and the fresh line won’t be oily enough. I use it with the Green Tea Seed Serum which is the brand’s number one seller, and I also use the Green Tea facial wash. I’m currently using the Orchid toner with the line and my skin looks and feels amazing. The cream is just right for my combination skin and if I make a point to not over apply on my nose and forehead, I have no complaints with the product.
My thoughts: As you could probably tell, the image above is a new pot of cream and the one in the collective image is older. That’s because I’ve repurchased and I’ll be doing so for a few more times I’m sure. I give this product line in its entirety five stars.
INNISFREE Orchid Enriched Cream
This is one of those Innisfree products that I felt I had to try because I’m curious and I love Innisfree. I bought the whole set of these products including the serum, the toner and this cream. The trio did not work well for my combination skin when it was still warmer, but once fall and winter came along it was just just almost not too oily for my skin, which I thought was okay since it’s not terrible to over moisturise in the winter. I would not use this in a humid summer. I enjoyed this porduct line a lot and I am currently still using the toner along with their Green Tea line. I feel like this is something that would work just a bit better for me in my mid thirties, but not just yet. The cream does have quite a sticky feel to it. So if you don’t like your skin feeling sticky after applying cream, then this won’t be for you.
My thoughts: Would I repurchase. Yes, I will repurchase this in the winter again, but for sure not in the summer as it’s just a tad too oily for my combination skin. They get 4 stars from me.
TONY MOLY The Chok Chok Green Tea Watery Cream
Curiosity strikes again. I’ve been using the Innisfree Green Tea range almost religiously for a while now and I ended up getting some samples of this line when I bought a Tony Moly highlighter. (Which I’ll be reviewing for you soon). I tried the samples and ended up loving it so I bought the full size product. It’s a light feeling white cream that reminds me quite a bit of the Nivea Aqua range that was popular when I was in high school. It moisturizes well but it feels light and water at the same time. I like the way this felt on my skin and definitely understand how this product range put Tony Moly on the map internationally.
My thoughts: I would repurchase this in a heartbeat. I just currently have so many other products to work my way through that I’d probably have to wait till I finish those first. I am currently using their Green Watery Cleanser which is like a toner that you use after washing your face. It cleans the pores deeper than a facial wash ever could, and I really love that product too. (more extensive reviews for that coming up later.)
NATRI-SILK Facial Moisturizer
Natri-Silk is a South African brand with its focus on natural ingredients.
Above is a write up of all the ingredients and the great news that this entire brand is paraben and petroleum free. With ingredients like Aloe Vera Gel one can imagine it being a very light and gel like formula, which it is. The product is a white gel like lotion with strong hints of lavender, citrus and rose. I really enjoyed this product as it is not every day that you get an all natural product that works really well. This is again a lotion that is not too oily for my skin even though it contains a whole list of essential oils. The citrus and lavender can make it a little bit sensitive on open skin, but that’s because it’s purifying the area and killing off any germs and bacteria. My skin always looks and feels amazing after using this cream and I would highly recommend it to anyone who wants to steer clear from chemicals and animal tested products.
My thoughts: I am honestly proud to say that this is a South African product because it is that good. The fact that it contains only natural ingredients really stands out for me and it did absolute wonders for my skin. Would I repurchase? Yes, in fact I have a back on my dresser, just waiting to be cracked open. (I will do a more extensive review on it and some other products in the line very soon) It gets 5 stars from me.
ALOE FEROX Classic Moisturizer
Aloe Ferox is an extremely well loved brand in South Africa, as it is very affordable and contains only natural ingredients and their products work every single time. I have tried lip balms, lip ointments, facial soap bars, hand creams and you name it from this brand. Whenever one of my family members drives past Hartenbos, I ask them to get me some of these products at their Aloe farm store. It’s out in the Klein Karoo. Their products in my opinion have not gotten the rave reviews they deserve on an international scale. My mother in law only uses this moisturiser and has been doing so for years, so she likes to get me some of their products when she gets half a chance. I like this particular product because it’s similar to the Natri-Silk one in that it’s light yet moisturizing enough for young and aging skin. This tube goes a very very long way, in fact it took me close to a year of daily usage to empty it.
My thoughts: I dearly want to repurchase this but I’ll have to wait till I’m home in December. The only small complaint I can think of is that it’s easy to over apply and then cause excess sebum because the product feels so light on the skin that one would imagine it’s just not enough, when it truly is. It gets at least 4 stars from me.
INNISFREE Super Volcanic Clay Mousse
Yes, another Innisfree product. No, they aren’t sponsoring me. 🙂 I just love them. The Volcanic Clay range has been my very favourite for years, but they unfortunately decided to cut my favourite lotion permanently so I’ve had to reach out and try their other lines. This is not a lotion, but a face mask instead. They came out with a volcanic clay mask in a tub that you have to apply with a tiny little spatula. It works great but it’s messy and the product dries out after a few months. This is what I believe to be the better version of that one, as it comes in a spray can and works almost like shaving cream. This insures that the product doesn’t dry out and the application is smoother and easier. The product is a brown gray mousse that you apply to your face and decolletage and it dries out to a crusty mud. It claims to minimize pores and extract blackheads from the skin. It feels cooling on the skin.
My thoughts: I have found that the product is affective and does what it claims, although I won’t use it more than twice a week because it’s messy and can be quite drying on the skin.
That’s it from me. I know it was a mouth full, but I haven’t been on here for way too long and now I seem to be over compensating. Another great thing to remember is that Innisfree gives you W500 in club points for every empty container you hand in and you can hand in up to 6 at a time. Club points for days, y’all!
