Face Shop Gelato Tint Review

Screen Shot 2018-10-09 at 7.31.39 PM

Dear Ladies and Jellyspoons

It’s been a long time since I bought any lip tints aside from Peripera because I thought my collection was getting a bit out of hand, but then I got this one from Face Shop and the entire collection of Etude House Soft Drink tints for my birthday.  I have not been able to get more in the meantime. I’m really trying to be economical lately, so I will only be reviewing one of them today. I will try and get a couple of swatches of the whole collection when I visit there booth next.

This is what the entire collection looks like:

To some extent I like that the majority of the colours are red or red based, but I also would’ve enjoyed a black or deep purple tint. I think something controversial would sell, but maybe South Korea is just not the right place for that. A girl can dream though…

I got 06 Cherry Mousse and I must say my friend was spot on with choosing this one for me. I will always gravitate towards the deeper more vampy reds or pinks. Cherry Mousse is a deep Cherisse pink.

The texture is very similar to the Peripera Ink Gelato which I reviewed a couple of days ago, although I must say this one is thicker and I feel like you get more out of the container with one doe foot application. You don’t really need to dip the applicator in a second time because enough product adheres to the applicator. This is a major plus point for me.

As you can tell, the doe foot applicator is very textured – I almost want to say hairy – and it is perfect for a quick application and even distribution of product.

Here is the swatch on my arm:

It is quite pigmented and there is no amount of splotchiness or uneven distribution.

Here is what it looks like on my lips:

This particular smells like rose water or turkish delights, and it feels so soft and creamy on my lips, with absolutely no drying effect at all.

I wouldn’t mind owning this whole collection, since I can see myself wearing it on a regular basis.

Which one would you like to try out? Let me know in the comments’ section.

Lime Crime Metallic Velvetines Review

Metallic Banner_1920x400

Hi Ladies and Jellyspoons

If you follow me on instagram you will know that I have lately become quite obsessed with Lime Crime as a brand in its entirety. I use their Pony hair colour to dye the bleached section of my hair purple, and I’ve been obsessing over their Velvetines liquid lipsticks ever since I bought my first one. I will definitely be adding to this review since I really want all of colours they have, but I will only be covering my collection of their Metallic Velvetines today, or else this blog will get really long.  Lime Crime is an independant Vegan and cruelty free makeup  brand. In the dog eat dog world of the makeup industry, it’s really hard to find brands that are truly vegan and cruelty free, since a lot of brands make false claims about their products. I am happy to say that Lime Crime is legitimately what they claim to be. So if you’re done with contributing to the abuse and exploitation of animals, this is the brand for you.

Red Hot was one of the first ones I got along with some of their Matte Velvetines and one of their Perlees lipsticks. I can tell just from searching it on Instagram that it is massively popular and it stands to reason. It is a metallic pin up red, and some of you may know that the metallic lipstick trend that our mothers used to wear is all the rage again, and I couldn’t be happier. I actually had to put off reviewing this lipstick because I wore it to death, and one of my students stole it from my desk at school. I know who she is, because she has recently stopped greeting me and I have seen that one of a kind red sheen on her lips all too often ever since. I had to actually reorder it and then that order got stolen in the mail and Lime Crime actually sent me another order as compensation. So after all that, I finally have my baby back and I am wearing it to death all over again.

Eclipse was given to me for free when I made an order through their site in August during the all American eclipse. I originally wanted Raisin Hell which I believe to be a more deep plum as compared to Eclipse’s burgundy. It looks quite vampy on my almost wall paint white skin, but I’ve gotten so many compliments on it, and so many inquiries as to where I bought it, that I know it’s a hit even on me.

Posh was just a straight up must have for me since I have an obsession with all things violet or deep purple. It’s not to say that it’s the most flattering colour on me, but I feel like I can full off much more with my blue black hair than I used to when I was a cherry blonde.

Mermaid’s Grotto I just had to get because I’ve been dying to do a Snow Queen (Not Elsa, but Narnia or Hans Christian Andersen’s Snow Queen) look for the longest time, and I thought it would be the perfect lipstick for it. Wait for it 😉 I’ll put pictures up on Instagram once I do the look. I am also a mermaid by heart so the mermaid theme of this lipstick and the rest of the collection really appeals to me.

This is another special addition Ans or came out with two other colours:  Blue Flame and Nightshade. Serpentia was a best selling lipstick in the nineties, but had been discontinued ever since and people have been begging them to bring it back. They did off course bring it back but in liquid form, and for a limited time only. Serpentia is a metallic bottle green with find gold shimmer. It might not be the most conventional colour, but there are many folks like myself who see makeup as an artistic expression, and don’t always go for the regular lipstick shades.

There you have it folks. I will most likely be updating this blog in the near future since they currently have an 85% sale and I have a discount code card.

For more information, click on Lime Crime. Also let me know if there are any of their products you’d like for me to review.

Etude House Be My Universe Lipstick Review

Hi Ladies and Jellyspoons.

Happy hump day! I am back and this time I’ll be reviewing some new lipsticks from Etude House. No, my addiction for Etude House will never die. They recently came out with a holiday collection called Be My Universe, and it’s a planet/space theme, and I am obsessed!

These are the products that I managed to get:

There are two eyeshadow palettes and five lipsticks, but I’m trying to be economical so I only picked out a few of the items.

Today I will exclusively be talking about the lipsticks, but I’ll get to the palette soon as well.

Some of you may be acquainted with the brand and know by now that they recently came out with a permanent collection of lipsticks that are bought separately from the casing, which gives you the freedom of mixing and matching your lipsticks to the bullet casing of your choice. These are the same, so keep in mind that I chose the 3 cases for mine out of the 5 Limited Edition Be My Universe cases, but you can put them on the permanent line of cases as well, and you can rearrange them to suit your style and fancy.

These are the lipsticks (refills)

And these are the cases:

And for interest, here is an image of two of the permanent line cases that I have:

Yes, they are all stinking cute! (I need to review these for you as well.)

These are the ones from the Be My Universe collection:

I got these three:

From left to right:

RD 305 Stellar Red; PP 502 Space Purple; PP502 Aurora Purple.

Here are the swatches:

RD 305 Stellar Red is a Dear My Glass Tinting, and it’s an incredibly unique colour in that it is glittery metallic! I felt like a Christmas ornament while wearing this. I think the glittery ones are the ones everyone should get if they want anything from this collection.

PP 502 Space Purple is from the Dear My Matte Tinting line . It’s standard non purple purple for Etude House. They often come out with colours that are called purple but either wear bright pink or is just burgundy instead of purple. I still love it, although I would’ve adored a more violet purple.

And here is my absolute favourite: PP 502 Aurora Purple.

I’m obsessed with the colour, the iridescence, and the glitter. It’s just perfection! I have a similar one by RMK but they are not 100% the same. Here are the swatches:

And here they are side by side:

RMK although glittery is much more grainy and uncomfortable; the colour is more burgundy than purple and the glitter is not that iridescent and blue.

The Dear My Glass Tinting ones wear for 2 hours or more depending on how much I eat and drink. The Dear My Matte Tinting lasts a good 4 hours.

Will I repurchase? Yes, I am actually considering getting a back up for Aurora Purple and I’m sad that they would come out with something so fantastic and NOT make it permanent.

I’m going to be alternating my blogs from brand to brand, just because I have so much to review at the moment. Keep your eyes peeled for the eye shadow palette review and more reviews from the recent Peripera collection.

That’s it’s from me.

Lime Crime Velvetines

Velvetines Banner_1920x400.jpgDear Ladies and Jellyspoons

Today I will be talking about a brand that I’ve never tried or reviewed before, although it has always been on my wishlist. Lime Crime is a brand that is complete vegan and cruelty free. It’s similar to Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics in some ways, but it is very unique in other ways.

The one thing that struck me from the get go is their packaging. Their Velvetines, which are liquid lipsticks, come in the most beautiful glass vials with red tops covered in roses. Not only do they pay attention to detail with their packaging, but when you order anything from them, it comes in the most beautiful little boxes.

They really pay attention to detail. The little rock rose theme on the outsides of the boxes is repeated on the packaging of the actual products. The liquid lipsticks come in frosty glass veils with red tops that are covered in tiny little roses.

From left to right they are: Eclipse, Posh, and Jinx. Here are the swatches on my arm:

As you can probably tell, the top to ones are metallic and the bottom one is matte. I have more of them coming in the post, so I’ll be making separate collective reviews of all of them soon, along with another line called Perleez.

This beauty was given to me as a gift during the North American solar eclipse. I ordered some of their colourful hair dye and this was given to me as a promotion. I have to say that Lime Crime is very good at giving lipsticks away for free with purchases, and I really appreciate their willingness to give back to their fans. Not many companies are willing to do this.

Eclipse is a deep metallic wine red, perfect for autumn. I have gotten tons of compliments on it, and it really goes well with all skintones. This one lasted a good 3-4 hours on me and only started smudging in the middle, more damp parts of my lips.

Posh is a deep metallic halloween violet. I’m not the type who’ll celebrate halloween at all, but violet is on my of my top three favourite colours and since I just dyed parts of my hair purple, I wanted something to match. This one is consistent in colour payoff and longevity of Eclipse. I find them to be pretty consistent throughout the range. I had Red Hot as well, and it was my absolute favourite, but it got stolen off my desk at work.

Jinx was one colour that didn’t really look the way the site portrayed it. It definitely looked more deep purple, than a muddy mauvy grey. At first I was disappointed but the colour has grown on me ever since, and the great thing is I can always mix up some colours to make it more purple. I will do some separate blogs on that in the future as well. This one, being matte, was a bit harder for me to get even application, especially on the upper lip. I’d imagine that it takes some getting used to and knowing just how much to apply at a time, as applying too much might just be the reason for my struggle.

I forgot to mention that all of the Velvetines come with a doe foot applicator. Here are the links for the rest of the Metallics and the Matte ranges, if you’re interested in a purchase.

I don’t find them to be super drying, but I would recommend, as I do with any liquid lipstick, that you clear your lips of any dry patches by using a good old sugar scrub. The nature of a liquid lipstick is that it will seep into the crack and creases and emphasise any dry patches, so with the awesome long wear of these liquid lipsticks, comes that one downfall. It’s still totally worth it though. I know a lot of people would not want to rock deep purples or dark chocolate browns, but luckily the brand has a huge variety of different colours in matte and metallic to choose from.

That’s it from me, till my next order arrives.

Tony Moly Kiss Lover Style

tonymoly-kiss-lover-style-lipstick-matt-3Hi Ladies and Jellyspoons

I have finally gotten my horizons broadened when it comes to Korean lipsticks. For the longest time I was only ever purchasing anything makeup related from Etude House, but I thought this year I want to expand a bit and so I’ve decided to try a few products from Tony Moly. To me this brand is one of the most underrated Korean beauty brands, especially since it’s one that is available at international stores like Sephora.

One of the biggest benefits of living and earning in Korea is the easy access to great quality beaut products, and the ability to join membership clubs and that way get to know first when there is a sale. I was blessed to get my hands one two of these lovely lipsticks on a sale.

Kiss Lover Style is a line that attracted me because I was looking red lipsticks in a matte finish. The packaging of these are slim and sleek. They come in narrow black metal bullets with an angled lipstick product inside:

Here are the ones that I got:

RD 01

This one is a dupe for some of the most love red lipsticks by MAC. I will do a review on it sometime in the future.

This one is a bit more orange or terracotta than I would’ve liked it to be, but I can still pull it off fairly well.

These wear really well, and I am super happy with them especially since they are dupable to high end brands but come with the price tag of a drugstore lipstick. That isn’t a rare find in Korea, but either way I am very happy with them. There are so many more in this collection that I still want to get my hands on, and off course when I do, you’d be the first to know about it.

Have you found a great red matte lipstick recently? If so, please let me know in the comment section. I have a slight obsession.

MAC Halsey Lipstick Review

Hi Ladies and Jellyspoons

I have come realize that although my blog focusses mainly on Korean brands, my odd MAC lipstick reviews have gotten a lot of love from you all. I have a pretty extensive collection so far, so I thought I’d throw in a random MAC lippie review from time to time.

This particular lipstick is a limited edition that I really knew I needed from the first time I saw this promotional image. I have goth side to me, and although my hair isn’t dyed with Manic Panic blue hair dye, I was confident that this lipstick would suit me due to the fact that I have similar colouring and features to Halsey. My hair is currently blue black which isn’t clashing with this unique grey lipstick.

If you’re unfamiliar with Halsey, you can look her up over here.

This is what the lipstick looks like: I was expecting the packaging to be different from the norm, but it is actually just the box that is unique:

This is what it looks like swatched:

And this is what it looks like on my lips:

The red around my lips is from watching Russian Red earlier, as I only get one full day of sunshine per week in which to work on my blogs, I have to utilize it really well.

Halsey is a blue grey matte. When you think of matte, it’s not the typical matte formula that straight away causes your lips to dry out, but a more velvety sort of matte. I still say this colour is not for everyone and I know I won’t wear it to church or religious choir performances, but I will wear it on a night out with friends, paired with a grungy black out fit and Dr Martens.

And yes, I look a bit like Wednesday from the  Adam’s Family:

Would I repurchase. I think I probably won’t just because it’s not something I’m going to be wearing on a day to day basis. I also know that NYX and Lime Crime have similar permanent lipsticks. Trying to get your hand on a limited edition MAC lipstick can be quite grueling and you have to weigh up wether it is worth it.

That’s it from me

Lots of love

Peripera Rouge Pang Review

Hi Ladies and Jellyspoons

I just recently almost lost my Peripera Tint Crayon, but got it back. To cut a long story short, I got a tad sentimental and ended up in Watson’s where I picked up a few Peripera products, which I will be reviewing for here.

When I reviewed that lip crayon, someone had suggested that I check out their Rouge Pang line, and I’m glad I did. They are not only adorably packaged which is to be expected from Peripera, but they are also really great products, which is why it is not surprise why they are so famous among the Korean beauty community.

This is the one I got:

It’s definitely as cute as it looks in the promotional image, if not cuter. The container has a slanted top in the colour of the product, which is always ideal. There’s nothing as daunting as trying to find one particular colour among 20 odd similar lipstick containers. It gets exhausting at times.

This is what it looks like in the tube:

It’s a beautiful shade of magenta. I feel like magenta is a hard colour to explain. It’s a orangy, red with coral undertones.

This is what it looks like swatched:

And this is what it looks like on my lips:

This product is not like the Peri’s Tint Crayon at all, since that line comes in a matte finish, whereas this line is more creamy. It does remind me a little of the Etude House Dear My Wish Lips line in the way it applies very smoothly and with vivid colour pay off.

The verdict:

Well all I can say is it’s not every day a brand makes me want to purchase the entire collection becaus it’s just so great. I really like this product I will definitely be picking up some of the darker colours and the purple to review for you in the future.

Which Peripera product appeals to you most and why? I’m definitely going to be exploring this brand better in the future.

lots of love
